December Membership Meeting

At the December Membership Meeting There Will Be Officer Elections and Presidential Candidate Endorsement On Thursday, December 10th at 6:30 pm, St. Lukes Lutheran Church Annex, 83 Christopher St. members will elect a President and Vice President for the Club in 2016.  There will also be a vote called for the endorsement of a Democratic Presidential Candidate (Petitioning begins January 5th, 2016). Halting the Flow of Gas Pipeline Infrastructure in NYS

Village Independent Democrats will hold a forum on halting the advance of gas pipeline infrastructure which threatens health, environment and economic life of New York State.   The forum will take place on May 14, 2015 at 7:00 PM, at St. John’s Lutheran Church Annex, 83 Christopher St. (just west of Seventh Avenue).  The public is invited.  Admission is free. “The gas industry wants to expand the natural gas infrastructure in New York State to maximize its ability to export natural gas to more profitable overseas markets,” says Nat Johnson, organizer of the forum.  “We have to develop stronger regulatory protocols […]

Four Letters and a Resolution

Four letters and a resolution were approved at the February 12th General Meeting. The membership approved letters, submitted by  VID President Nadine Hoffmann and introduced by Ed Yutkowitz, to Senators Schumer and Gillibrand and Representatives Nadler and Maloney in opposition to Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu’s impending address to Congress.  The opening reads: We are disheartened that House Speaker John Boehner has breached protocol by inviting Mr. Netanyahu to address Congress just before Israel’s elections and without consultation with the White House.  Further, having the leader of a foreign government attempt to influence a Congressional vote is offensive and dangerous.
