VID October 2012 Agenda

The VID October 2012 agenda is filling up. Mark your calendars now.

The crew leaves Pennsylvania after a busy canvassing day.

The October VID General Membership meeting is Thursday, October 11, 2012St John’s Lutheran Church, 83 Christopher St. (just east of 7th Avenue).  SPECIAL NOTE:  because of the VP Debate (which has added importance as the polls tighten) the meeting will begin early, at 7:00 pm SHARP.

We will also hear the latest on the effort to stop hydrofracking in New York and the effect of the recent decision to require DEC’s health study before a decision on drilling.
We will be hearing from Owen Crowley on the Stop SPECTRA lawsuit, which VID has joined as co-petitioner (VID members Nat Johnson and Anne Heany are also individual co-petitioners). (SPECTRA is the massive high-pressure natural gas pipeline planned for Gansevoort/14th St).

(VID’s original agenda, a panel on Hudson Sq rezoning, had to be postponed because CB2 scheduled an Executive meeting the same night on this issue.)

2. Our VID October agenda also continues the bus canvassing campaign for the Obama reelection effort bringing canvassers to PA has been a great success — but we would like to see strong VID presence on the buses. Upcoming bus trips include all Saturdays to Election Day: Oct 13, 20, 27, Nov 2. Buses leave at 8:00 a.m., 15th St east side of Union Sq. Peter Crosta, Marti Speranza, Jonathan Geballe, Tony Hoffmann will continue to be part of the bus effort. We ask a $10 contribution when you board. Return at 7:00 p.m.

Reserve by contacting Nadine Hoffmann at buslady17@gmail.com . The spirit is contagious and energizing.

3. The VID Street Fair is Saturday, October 13, 11:00 a.m. to about 4:30 p.m. and our VID booth will be located at about Perry and Greenwich Avenue. Come by and say hello, and, if you can, donate a dollar or two (and get an Obama button) to support the bus canvassers.

Reminder that our November General Membership meeting will be on Thursday November 1. Mark your calendars.
