VID Celebrated a Progressive 2019. And the Elation Was Tangible. For 2018 VID Celebrated a 2019 on December 9th thanks to our venerable host, Frieda Bradlow and Son, Robert Bradlow. The highlight was a visit by Congresssman Jerrold Nadler, soon to be Chair of the House Judiciary Committee, who, in spite of an intensive media schedule, chose to share candid insights with his loyal VID constituency. Among other notables intent on the VID celebration were: Congresswoman Carolyn Maloney, NYS Senator Brad Hoylman, NYS Assemblymember Deborah Glick, Council Speaker Corey Johnson, Councilmember Brad Lander, Councilmember Mark Levine, Judge Frank Nervo, Judge Carol Feinman, Judge Melissa Crane, Judge Wendy Li, Judge Alexander Tisch, Judge Jennifer Schecter, Judge Louis Nock, Judge Grace Park, Susan Dess, Judicial Candidate, Kim Parker, Judicial Candidate. The April 12, 2018 General Meeting endorsed two candidates, passed two resolutions and heard a report on the Democratic County Committee Full April 12, 2018 General Meeting Minutes President Erik Coler opened the April 12, 2018 General Meeting by announcing three new committees: Gun Reform, chaired by Deb Sherman and Allison Stowell, Communications, chaired by Sara Kimbell, and the County Democrats Reform Committee, with Elissa Stein and Irene Kaufman. He also announced that The Executive Committee had agreed to make Annette Zaner VID member for life–and the membership unanimously agreed. Jeanne Wilcke reported on the Democratic County Committee Rules Committee and how the process for reform was very laborious and detailed, with the minutes for the March meeting running to 17 pages! Erik Coler topped the list of VID Officers for 2018 as he was re-elected President Also elected at the December 14 meeting, as VID officers for 2018 were Vice Presidents, Jennifer Hoppe and two new Vice Presidents, Erik Bottcher and Laurie Hardjowirigo. All three have been ardent campaigners for local candidates as well as frequent volunteers in Up-State New York, Pennsylvnia, Virginia and Georgia. We are now, officially, infused with exceptional energy and Democratic commitment for another momentous year. At the January General Membership Meeting candidates for Recording Secretary, Corresponding Secretary, Treasurer, and the Executive Committee will be elected. VID was honored to wish happy Holidays to all our friends and fellow strategists. Thank you for joining us. More than 200 activists and electeds filled Frieda Bradlow’s home with the buzziest conversations on Sunday, December 10th. As “Happy Holidays to All Democrats” rang loud throughout, the rumbling of new strategies, lists of new action networks, vows to press on dominated the afternoon.
