VID Endorses Gillibrand, Nadler and Maloney

VID 2018 Endorsements VID Endorses Gillibrand, Nadler and Maloney, at the February 8th meeting.  The primary for these Federal offices will be on June 26th, with petitioning starting March 6th and a kick-off breakfast on March 3rd at VID headquarters, 26 Perry St., from 10:00 am to Noon.  Congressman Nadler will join us at 10:30am. The membership listened to three candidate representatives and one candidate.  The seat most contested was the 12th Congressional District where Carolyn Maloney is the incumbent.  Challenigng her are Sander Hicks and Suraj Patel.  Ballotpedia provides some comparative background on Congresswoman Maloney and Suraj Patel.   Rob Gottheim, the Congressman’s District Director spoke for Jerry Nadler; Minna Elias, the Congresswoman’s Chief of Staff spoke for Carolyn Maloney. VID’s April Membership Meeting covered petitioning results, Candles for Clemency, the AIM Pipeline, 45 Rivington St. AND endorsements for NYS candidates. MINUTES The meeting opened with a reminder from President Nadine Hoffmann about the Hillary fundraiser on May 12 cosponsored by Renee Feinberg at 303 Mercer.  A vote was taken to support the Washington Square Park Music Festival fundraiser on May 8 at the Greenwich Village Music School.  Nadine further reported that former member and supporter Marilyn Appelson remembered VID in her will. Tony Hoffmann of the Campaign Committee thanked everyone who participated in the petitioning effort reporting that VID had secured 700 signatures for Jerrold Nadler, more, he thought, than any other club. VID's March Meeting

VID’s March Meeting featured reports on the gun violence forum, the Congressional primary, an early voting bill in the NYS legislature and the Algonquin Pipeline.  It ended with Club endorsements for Jerry Nadler, Carolyn Maloney, Charles Schumer and Hillary Clinton. See the full meeting minutes here.  [Revised ] President Nadine Hoffmann opened VID’s March meeting by welcoming Congressman Jerry Nadler, who is up for reelection.  He soon left, as he could not speak at the meeting. She then reported on the March 1 Women’s Issues forum at the Red Room, participated in by VID, DID, CODA, Manhattan Young Dems, and Councilwoman Rosie Mendez.  There had also been a forum on gun violence the day before, sponsored by the VID and VRDC, and featuring Keith Wright, Richard Aborn, Leah Gunn Barrett, and Scott Stringer, among others.  And she reminded the members about the upcoming Candidates Night on April 7.  See April […]
