October 10 Meeting Summary

Following an Elections 2013 update by Peter Crosta, elections were held for Corresponding Secretary and Recording Secretary.  Ed Yutkowitz (Corresponding Secretary) and Kathy Slawinski (Recording Secretary) were nominated and elected unanimously by voice vote.

Dr. Alec Pruchnicki and Len Rodberg made the presentation “Obamacare is Good, but more healthcare reform Is on its Way”.

Initially, Star Morris, navigator for the Affordable Care Act, made a presentation regarding the rollout of the ACA.

The resolution regarding H.R. 676, Medicare for All, was passed overwhelmingly (35 in favor 1 opposed).  The state resolution, regarding the Gottfried/Perkins bill was passed conditionally (35 in favor 1 opposed) pending adjustments to be made by the Executive Committee on October 28th.

Lastly, the three candidates for the State Supreme Court, Peter Mentone, Deborah James and Anil Sing, and Letitia James, candidate for Public Advocate were all endorsed unanimously by voice vote.
