Animal Welfare Committee

Animal Welfare

With the increasing focus of the City Council and New York State Legislature on Animal Welfare issues, our committee was formed to propose and monitor pending legislation, as well as comment on existing legislation.

The goal of the committee is to improve  the lives of animals and their owners in New York State and New York City.

We have written letters regarding the extreme pediatric spay/neuter age as well as cat declawing.  The Committee is working to ban the sale of cats, dogs, and rabbits in pet stores city- and state-wide.

This year we attended the rally in support of Council Speaker Corey Johnson’s fur ban and have urged councilmembers to support Councilmember Carlina Rivera’s foie gras ban.
