February Membership Meeting  Thursday 2/13, at 6:30 PM

February Membership MeetingVID will hold their February Membership Meeting at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 83 Christopher Street.  

The agenda will include a report from District Leader Keen Berger, Committee reports and a forum entitled The Power to Change: Clean Energy and the Future of New York City.

Presenters for this forum include:

 Samara F. Swanston– Legislative counsel to the Environmental Protection Committee of the New York City Council, an Adjunct Professor at the Pratt Institute Graduate School for Urban Planning and the Environment, and an Adjunct Professor at the Hunter College Graduate School for Urban Affairs and Planning.

Lisa DiCaprio– Associate Director of Curriculum, Clinical Associate Professor of Social Sciences-Paul McGhee Division New York University School of Continuing and Professional Studies

Nancy Anderson- Executive Director of the Sallan Foundation.  The mission of the Sallan Foundation is advancing useful knowledge for greener cities.

The presentation will be 30-minutes followed by a question an answer period.

Four resolutions will also be reviewed at this meeting:

  1. Resolution opposing bill in US Senate that would automatically place sanctions on Iran in six months if nuclear discussions fail- Ed Yutkowitz
  2. Resolution in support of the Zebrowski bill (A.8187) which, along with Senate “same as” Griffo bill (S.5980), are bills to amend the election law to show identity of       certain entities making expenditures for political communications; and providing penalties for failure to do so- Katharine Wolpe
  3. Resolution requesting restoration of bus service on University Place- Tom Connor
  4. Resolution supporting GVSHP in their bid to have historic LGBT buildings landmarked
