October 2019 Meeting

VID’s October 2019 Meeting Covered the County Committee, Early Voting, the New York Health Act and a Vote on the Five Ballot Proposals for NYC Charter Revisions. President David Siffert opened the October 2019 meeting with an account of the recent County Committee meeting, saying the acting chair had refused to count votes, upsetting Arthur Schwartz, the law co-chair of the County Committee and our District Leader, who tried to make the process fair.  There will be no elections for two years, so David warned us we must get our ducks in a row. County Committee Meeting Oct. 3rd

Manhattan-Wide County Committee Meeting will be held on Thursday, October 3rd at Riverbank State Park Thursday, October 3rd, 6pm  Denny Farrell Riverbank State Park 679 Riverside Drive Public Transit Directions   ●     Members from across the borough will elect leadership for the Manhattan-Wide County Committee ●    County Committee members will discuss and vote on the rules of the Manhattan Party, including whether the County Leader can hold a lobbying position.   ●     Remainder of agenda to be announced. 

Environmental Action: Reduce-Reuse-Repair Grant

REDUCE-REUSE-REPAIR GRANT: ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS UNTIL SEPTEMBER 16, 2019 The Manhattan Solid Waste Advisory Board (MSWAB), Citizens Committee for NYC, and Manhattan Borough President Gale Brewer invite community groups and individuals to apply for a grant to design and implement innovative projects that will help achieve New York City’s waste prevention, reuse and repair goals. These projects should help the City of New York eventually reuse 100% of all waste that can be reused, repaired, refurbished, or salvaged for spare parts, and pioneer models that can be replicated throughout the City.
